Q. Why did you make a web site after your wedding?
A. It started out as a way for friends and family to see some of the pictures
that they took at the wedding with the disposable table top cameras. Then
it just sort of got out of hand.
Q. Why did you have your wedding at the Aquarium?
A. We really enjoy going to Monterey and the Aquarium in particular. It
was nothing so romantic as the place where we met or where we got engaged.
We just thought it would be really cool.
Q. How did you know the Monterey Bay Aquarium did that?
A. We have a membership at the Aquarium. Membership benefits include free
unlimited admission, special member events and member's nights, discounts
at Aquarium stores and a newsletter (which described private events).
Q. Who did you talk to at the Aquarium?
A. The group sales staff. The event coordinators at
the MBA are very helpful and a pleasure to deal with.
Q. Where did you hold the ceremony?
A. The ceremony was held in the Giant Kelp Forest gallery in front of the
three stories high display windows. Picture
Q. Where was the reception?
A. The reception was held in the Marine Mammals gallery. Dinner was served
in the gallery with life-sized models of whales and dolphins overhead. Menu.
Q. How long did it take to plan the wedding?
A. About 9 months. Again, the MBA staff is so helpful, they made our job
a breeze!
Q. How many people were at the wedding?
A. There were about 100 people at the wedding. Even though the Aquarium
can obviously handle a great many more people than that, we thought it would
be much more intimate with a small group.
Q. Why didn't your dog make it to the wedding?
A. He was so supposed to be our ring bearer and we did have clearance from
the Aquarium to bring him, but he would have shed a lot of white hair on
a lot of black formal wear. Plus, we didn't have a place to keep him for
the night and he would have been stressed out. See
Taro's favorite wedding pictures.
Q. Was the seafood in the hors d' oeuvres from the Aquarium tanks?
A. Although it looked familiar, none of the exhibits were harmed in the
feeding of our guests.
