Finch Breeder Form Books eFinch on Facebook
Finch Breeders use a number of different methods of keeping records. Index cards, blank notebooks, computer databases, etc. Most of us still rely on good written records. Scrapes of paper get lost, notes without standardized fields lose meaning over time and computer databases are at risk of crashing or becoming outdated (plus they are often not in the birdroom)

Here are some standard forms that I created for myself to use in the birdroom.

Finch Breeder Log Book - Pair Data

Finch Breeder Log Book
It's important to keep track of the offspring your birds produce and the performance of your breeding pairs. Having all the data in a bound book makes it easy to get to and having preprinted fields keeps your data consistent over the years. This log book is structured enough to keep you organized, but designed to allow you to enter the data you need to keep. Breeding history is the perfect companion to the individual Finch Records book above.

Record Data on:
• Birds set up for breeding
• Breeding timeline
• Individual clutch data
• Each offspring produced
• Weight of breeding birds.
• Notes on supplements or medications administered during breeding.
• Plenty of room for your notes

Spiral bound to lay flat while entering data.
Full color covers (field to enter dates covered on back cover)
200 pages (that's 100 pairings!)

Finch Census - Flock Counts

Finch Census
Every year I conduct a census of my own flock. I record all the birds in each cage. I compare this to my computer database to make sure that it is up to date. It also has the advantage of keeping a log in the birdroom of each cage and its residents. Really helpful when you need to double check a bird in that outside flight when it's cold and dark out there.

Record Data on:
• All birds in each cage by band number or whatever system you use
• Species and color mutations
• Sex (if known)
• Plenty of room for your notes

Spiral bound to lay flat while entering data.
Full color covers (field to enter dates covered on back cover)
100 pages (that's 50 cages and 500 birds)
